Mitsubishi Racing Lancer

The Mitsubishi Racing Lancer was designed to take onboard the upcoming Super Production regulations, and is made in accordance to Group T1 regulations of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile). Both Mitsubishi Motors' motorsport department and MMSP helped in its development. Work on the turbo-diesel engine started in April 2006, tested in a Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution in June 2007, and eventually the completed car was finished in June 2008. Testing of the car was done in Spain and Morocco, as well as in France, later also in Morocco at the end of August/early September and October to get it ready for it's debut in the Baja Portalegre, a round of the FIA Cross-Country Baja International Cup, in November 2008. The Mitsubishi Racing Lancer has a new multi-tubular steel frame, with clever weight management techniques employed by developers. It has a longer wheelbase, and this extra space allowed the gas tank to be positioned lower, bringing down the centre of gravity. Handing was also improved as a result of the new location of the spare tyres.
