The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400 is the most powerful version of Mitsubishi's racing-inspired vehicle. It is equipped with a lightweight, aluminium 2.0-liter turbocharged MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control) petrol engine that produces 403bhp and 387lb.ft of torque. This allows the FQ-400 to reach 62mph in only 3.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 155mph, if allowed.
Traction and handling
Mitsubishi has designed the FQ-400 with its Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) four-wheel-drive system. This system distributes power to the four wheels that will best utilize it, thus improving the FQ-400’s off-road performance. The S-AWC system is managed by the driver using a button on the steering wheel with three settings – Tarmac, Gravel and Snow. As well as this, Active Stability Control, Active Centre Differential, Active Yaw Control and Sport ABS are all present to boost cornering ability, traction and grip.
Cornering stability
To further enhance the FQ-400's cornering ability, the track has been widened and the suspension dropped with Eibach springs and Bilstein Shock Absorbers. Lightweight 18-inch, nine spoke alloy wheels with Toyo Proxes R1R tyres also increase grip and steering response. Additionally, the FQ-400 has a revised braking system made of aerospace grade aluminium alloys and floating sealed discs with high performance pads.
