Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart

The Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart was first released in 2000 as part of the eighth-generation Cedia – CENTURY DIAMOND – models. Though some markets still carried the previous seventh-generation Lancer, it was increasingly obsolete. It was available as both a sedan and station wagon, and the Mirage in Japan was given a different design unrelated to the Lancer. Mitsubishi gave the Cedia (Lancer in the US) a facelift in 2004, and the grille was again changed in 2005 to increase its perceived similarity to the larger Galant. For 2006, another facelift was given when complaints were received that the design was too close to the Pontiac corporate styling, and the appearance was modified to draw closer Sons to the Evo version. The Lancer station wagon is currently only available in Canada and Australia. In Pakistan, the Lancer was released with cosmetic changes to the exterior in 2005, and the Thai production was switched to the new model, excluding India which received it in 2006. North America received two models in 2004: the Lancer Sportback (4-speed automatic transmission) and the Lancer Ralliart (5-speed manual transmission, stiffer suspension, style diffuser, and fog lamps). In 2005, the Sportback was discontinued due to slow sales and Mitsubishi's financial issues. Released in July 2002, the Australian Lancer was powered by a 2.0L 4G94 engine. It was updated with a 2.4L MIVEC engine in 2005 which increased power to 115 Kw. The trim levels were also upgraded and renamed as ES, LS, and VR-X. In Europe, the Lancer is sold with the 1.3L 4G13, 1.6L 4G18, and 2.0L DOHC 4G63 engines.
