Mitsubishi Montero GLS 5door [EU]

The Mitsubishi Montero, also known as Mitsubishi Pajero in many countries and Mitsubishi Shogun in the United Kingdom, is a well-known SUV model manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. It was named "Montero" - or "mountain warrior" in Spanish - to distinguish itself from the Spanish slang word for "wanker", which is also "Pajero". History The first Pajero I prototype was revealed in the 1973 Tokyo Motor Show. Five years later, the Pajero II prototype was also showcased in the same event. Mitsubishi's main objective was to develop an SUV that went beyond the common utilitarian uses of such vehicles. Thus, it was particularly endowed with car-like features, such as a turbocharged diesel engine, a front double wishbone suspension with torsion bar springs, power steering and suspension seats. The initial Pajero launched in May 1981 with a 3-door short wheelbase model. It was equipped with either a metal or canvas top, accompanied by a 2.0 liter gasoline, 2.3 liter naturally aspirated diesel, or a 2.3 liter turbocharged diesel engine. A year later in January 1983, John Translation entered two mildly tuned production Pajeros in the Paris-Dakar Rally. In February 1983, Mitsubishi responded to the demands of the larger consumer public with a 5-door long wheelbase model. It featured adjustable third row seats which could be conveniently folded away. In 1984 and 1985, the diesel engines of the Pajero were further augmented, and a four-speed automatic transmission was made available with the standard ELR seatbelts. The Mitsubishi Montero rose to fame following its success in the 1985 Paris-Dakar Rally. In 1987, a flagship Pajero was released with 15 inch light alloy wheels, a two-tone paint job, wool seat covers, genuine leather headrests, a powerful sound system and a three-spoke steering wheel as standard equipment. A 3.0 liter SOHC V6 engine was introduced in 1988 alongside the 2.5 liter turbo diesel engine with the first 4x4 intercooler. A leaf spring rear suspension was added for improved ride stability and off-road abilities.
