Mitsubishi Raider DuroCross V8

The Mitsubishi Raider is a mid-size pickup truck featured in the fall of 2005 as a 2006 model for the American market. Developed by DaimlerChrysler, the Raider is based on the Dodge Dakota. Unfortunately, it is not available in Canada. This pickup truck bridges the gap that opened up since the discontinuation of the Mitsubishi Mighty Max in 1996. To power the Raider, drivers can choose between a 4.7 L PowerTech V8 engine that outputs 230 hp and 290 ft.lbf and a 3.7 L PowerTech V6 engine putting out 210 hp. The moniker itself was recycled from the Dodge Raider SUV sold from 1987 to 1990, a rebranded Mitsubishi Montero. However, the Raider hasn't managed to take hold within the market as sales have been extremely poor since its debut. In January and February 2006, only 377 and 492 respectively were sold compared to the Dakota's 4,583 and 6,260 in sales. Reports suggest that Mitsubishi dealers have an overabundance of Raiders on hand. Mitsubishi asked DaimlerChrysler to lower production and it has been recorded that 9,861 Raiders were built in 2005 with only 297 more being constructed from the start of 2006 till March 11.
