Mitsubishi i-MiEV

Previewed as concept car at the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show, and launched in Japan in January 2006, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC)'s innovative A-Segment 'i' had been widely acclaimed by media and customers. This lead to a kickstart in the next-generation electric vehicle project: the Mitsubishi i-MiEV. The Euro-spec. version (available in both left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive) was officially unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Exploiting the mid-ship architecture of 'i', the electric 'i MiEV' was announced in October 2006 with a motor and high-energy density lithium-ion batteries. After completing a thorough development process accumulating over 500,000 km of testing, the car was launched in Japan as 'i-MiEV' in July 2009 for fleet customers. Later, the car was made available for private customers, and deliveries to Japan began in April 2010. The next commercial step started today in Paris with the production in MMC's Mizushima plant, followed by deliveries to European customers from December 2010. 40 Years of EV Know-how at Mitsubishi When announced as an EV research vehicle back in October 2006, the then non-hyphened "i MiEV" was the outcome of forty years of research and development at Mitsubishi in the area of electric powertrain.
