Nissan Cube 2003 posters

Nissan Cube

The Nissan Cube is a unique, compact minivan that has been produced and sold in the Japanese market since 1998. Its distinct, square shape has made the Cube instantly recognizable, with the only outlier being the front end, which extends beyond the vehicle's boxy body. The features and specs of the Cube have evolved over time; the first generation vehicles (designated Z10) boasted a 1.3 L engine and optional CVT and four wheel drive. In 2002, the Cube’s second generation was revealed - the interior was now more spacious, and the design featured a combination of angled and curved surfaces. This generation was based on the third generation of the Nissan Micra (also known as the March in Japan) and was equipped with a 1.4 L engine and optional CVT. The car was also made available in a unique stretched wheelbase version, which housed seven seats and was named the Cube³. Two years later, both models were upgraded with a new HR-series 1.5 L engine from the Nissan Tiida and came with the new “e4WD” system. This powertrain was developed so that power would transfer to the rear wheels when the front wheels lost traction. Given the success of similarly-styled cars such as the Scion xB in the United States, Nissan has taken into consideration exporting the third generation of the Cube overseas. As of 2006, the car has been released in Japan and is being considered as an entry-level model; however, it is not available in Europe, as the larger Nissan Note has instead been released there.
