Nissan Frontier

The Nissan Frontier is a model of pickup truck that has been assembled by Nissan and sold under the Nissan brand since 1959. This brand was the pioneers in the compact pickup truck market, and since then has been known for notable firsts in the market including the first extended cab bodystyle in 1979 and the first crew cab bodystyle compact pickup in North America in 2000. The current generation of Frontier is built in Smyrna, Tennessee. The 1998 Frontier was introduced as a replacement of the aging Nissan pickup and was offered with a 4-cylinder engine (KA24DE) and a 6-cylinder engine (VG33E). It initially was only available in a standard cab, but then added a king cab configuration in 1999. 2000 saw the introduction of the Frontier Crew Cab with 4-door bodystyle in North America. For the 2001 model year the Frontier went through a facelift, featuring bolder styling, in order to appeal to younger buyers. After the 2004 model year, the Frontier was completely redone, leading it to being considered more mid-sized. This generation of Frontier has a wheelbase of 125.9 in (3.20m), a 205.5 in (5.22m) overall length, with a 6500lb (2,950kg) towing capacity. It also features a 4.0L VQ-family V6 engine (VQ40DE) with 265hp (198kW) with 284 ft·lbf (385 N·m) of torque; and an optional QR25DE four-cylinder engine which is also found in the Sentra SE-R Spec V sports sedan. It comes with a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission, with either rear or four-wheel drive. Additionally, traction control and hill-descent control are also available.
