Nissan GT-R PROTO Concept 2005 posters

Nissan GT-R PROTO Concept

At the 35th Tokyo Motor Show in 2001, Nissan unveiled the GT-R Concept, signalling the prospective continuation of the GT-R legacy to the 21st century. Two years later, at the 37th Tokyo Motor Show in 2003, Nissan announced that the next-gen GT-R would be coming in 2007. Then, with only two years left until the production model was set to be released, Nissan unveiled the GT-R PROTO Concept. Ultimate driving pleasureThe quest for ultimate driving pleasure means that a car should respond made perfectly to the driver's every command, never failing to perform as expected — no matter the road or track. This is the vision that the generations of GT-R have sought to embody; and certainty, the GT-R's reputation has spread far beyond its loyal customer base. Exterior design: pure performanceThe design of the GT-R PROTO Concept pays homage to the historical lineage of the GT-R, from the first PGC10 (1969) to the iconic R34 (1999) — in a modern yet expressive fashion. Unlike previous renditions, the new GT-R — meant for a global market — will feature a completely unique body style with no sedan counterpart. The hybrid body style of the GT-R PROTO exudes a sense of pure performance and functionality. Its front end with a single center air intake promotes airflow and seamlessly links the identity of the R34 and the 2001 GT-R Concept. Additionally, its aerodynamic front fenders are uniquely designed with intensive analysis of the air currents surrounding the tires, and an air vent positioned behind the wheel. Its sides display the sculpted form of a well-trained athlete heading towards the rear fenders, symbolizing the power and dynamism associated with the car. Furthermore, its rear is framed with the signature four-ring-shaped tail lamps, four large-bore exhaust pipes, and a c-pillar crease which ultimately improves aerodynamics. All of these design elements provide the first look into the production model of the GT-R set to be released in 2007 — the first GT-R in eight years.
