The Nissan Leaf Nismo RC Concept is a purpose-built electric vehicle that has been designed to redefine the term "Racing Green". The powertrain for this electric vehicle is an advanced Lithium-ion battery design, just like the one in the world's first affordable mass market electric car, the Nissan Leaf. Even though the RC Concept lacks many features as compared to the production model, such as rear doors, audio system, and carpeting, there is still a striking resemblance.
Nissan is utilizing the world of racing to bring attention to the immense potential that electric cars have to offer. By combining the expertise of Nismo, Nissan's world-renowned motorsport group, and the engineers behind Nissan's Super GT and FIA GT1 race teams, the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC will act as a useful learning tool to further the development of EV and aerodynamic systems. It will also serve as a platform to establish new green motorsport series.
