Nissan XTrail S
Unveiled at the September 2000 Paris Motor Show, Nissan began offering the first-generation T30 series X-Trail in Japan in November 2000, having entered production in October. This model was built on the Nissan FF-S platform shared with the Nissan Almera and Nissan Primera. In Canada, the X-Trail was sold between 2005 and 2006, while in Mexico it has been available since 2003 and received several updates. Likewise, in the Philippines the X-Trail has been on the market since mid-2003, and has gone through a couple of facelifts.
In the United Kingdom, the X-Trail initially featured S, Sport and SE+ trim levels, which were replaced with SE, Sport, SVE and T-Spec in 2004. All these models came with full electric windows, adjustable electric door mirrors, climate control, single CD player, 4 airbags and central locking. Meanwhile, in Australia the vehicle had ST, ST-S, Ti and Ti-L versions, as well as special edition ST-X, ST-R and ST-S 40th anniversary models. These models were all equipped with full electric windows, electric mirrors (electric folding for Ti-L), single CD player, 2 airbags and remote central locking. The ST-S was completed with a sunroof and 16" alloy wheels, while the Ti added a climate control, 6 disk CD player, fog lamps and 16" alloy wheels. The Ti-L boasted leather and electric seats, a sunroof and the option of a DVD player. The ST-R had lights-emitting roof racks while the ST-S 40th anniversary had fog lamps.
In 2006, the trim levels were revised once more. Nowadays, Nissan is selling and marketing the original T30 X-Trail, which is referred to as the Nissan X-Trail Classic, in certain countries. In 2007, the Taiwanese-manufactured model received a facelift, featuring larger, differently-shaped headlights and a new front grille.
GT
In mid-2002, Nissan unveiled a special edition X-Trail sporting a turbocharged SR20VET petrol engine, which delivered 280 hp (209 kW). This variant was exclusively available in Japan, and was named the X-Trail GT.
