Nissan Xterra

The Nissan Xterra is a compact SUV based on the Nissan F-Alpha platform, which shares many similarities with the Nissan Frontier pickup. Slotted below the Pathfinder in Nissan's lineup, the Xterra has attained considerable acclaim; it won the North American Truck of the Year award and was Motor Trend magazine's Sport/Utility of the Year for 2000 and 2006. Currenly, the Xterra is produced in Smyrna, Tennessee and São José dos Pinhais, Brazil, and is sold in Iran under license by Pars Khodro, where it is branded as the Nissan Roniz. Named after the XTERRA series of off-road triathlons, the Xterra was recognized by Nissan as the perfect vehicle for adventurers, outdoor enthusiasts, and those looking for a capable but simple SUV. Nissan marketed the Xterra this way with its slogan Everything you need, nothing you don't; advertising for the Xterra often showcased the vehicle driving through mud, unloading mountain bikes, or packing up a surfboard. Throughout its life, the Xterra has remained remarkably consistent in its design, with its signature raised roofline and "hump" on the back lift gate. The former allows for stadium seating, and the latter provides a conveniently and safely placed first-aid kit. The first generation of the Nissan Xterra was introduced in 2000, and since then it has become synonymous with the braking stereotypes and expectations of the small SUV.
