Oldsmobile Bravada

The 1991 Bravada was an upscale version of the then-new 4-door S-Blazer/Jimmy vehicle from Oldsmobile. It was the first truck-based vehicle offered by Oldsmobile since the 1920s, and was available in the US only. It offered anti-lock brakes, leather upholstery, remote keyless entry, and a 4.3L Vortec 4300 V6 TBI engine with 160hp (119 kW)/230 ft·lbf (312 N·m) (VIN Z). In 1992, it got a CPFI 200hp (149 kW) engine (VIN W). It averaged EPA city/highway 17/22 mpg for the 160hp engine and 16/21 mpg for the 200hp engine. The 1996 and 1997 Bravadas were restyled from the boxy design of the original, with daytime running lamps, dual airbags, driver's airbag, a new front fascia and the new Aurora inspired Oldsmobile logo. It offered OnStar as a cell phone unit, Bose sound system, and a two-tone exterior dubbed the Platinum Edition in 2000. This generation of the Bravada was phased out in 2001 to make way for the GMT360. It featured a 4.3L Vortec 4300 V6 CSFI engine with 190hp (142 kW). The EPA city/highway estimate averaged 16/21 mpg. The 2002 Bravada marked the first use of the GMT360 body style and the introduction of the vehicle to the Canadian market. It featured a 270hp (201 kW) Atlas I6 engine and offered a rear-wheel drive option for the first time, making it the last rear wheel drive Oldsmobile since the 1992 Custom Cruiser. It was the last new Oldsmobile model as the marque was phased out production in 2004. The EPA city/highway estimate averaged 15/21 mpg. The Bravada bodyshell is still in production today as the Buick Rainier.
