Oldsmobile Bravada Indy Pace Car

The first Oldsmobile Bravada was a luxury SUV introduced in 1991. It was unique due to its truck-based design and all-wheel drive system. It came with a 4.3 L Vortec 4300 V6 engine, and both anti-lock brakes and remote keyless entry were standard.

  • 1991 - 4.3 L Vortec 4300 V6, TBI, 160 hp (119 kW)/230 ft·lbf (312 N·m) (VIN Z)
  • 1992-1994 - 4.3 L Vortec 4300 V6, CPFI, 200 hp (149 kW) (VIN W)

Fuel Economy

The first generation Bravada with the 160 hp engine averaged EPA city/highway 17/22 mpg. The first generation with the 200 hp engine averaged 16/21 mpg.

The second generation Bravada debuted in 1996 with less boxy features and a refreshed interior. It used a single 4.3 L Vortec 4300 V6 engine with 190 hp (142 kW). Its EPA city/highway fuel economy was 16/21 mpg.

In 2002 the third generation Bravada, which was the first GMT360 truck, was launched. It was offered with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and featured a powerful 4.2L LL8 I6 engine with 270 hp (201 kW). The third generation Bravada offered an EPA city/highway fuel economy of 15/21 mpg.

The Bravada bodyshell is still in production as the Buick Rainier.
