Opel Insignia Hatchback

At the British International Motor Show (from July 23 - August 3, 2008) both the four-door sedan (notchback) and the five-door hatchback versions of Opel's flagship model, the Insignia, will be publicly introduced. The luxury car has a flowing, muscular, yet elegant silhouette with a coupé roofline. The length of the notchback and hatchback is 4,830 mm and the wheelbase is 2,737 mm; giving it amazing aerodynamic efficiency, boasting a class-leading drag coefficient of 0.27, as well as improved fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. For some markets, such as the U.K. and France, the hatchback model has a higher market share, while German and Spanish customers usually have a preference for notchback sedans. Prices have been announced for U.K., Ireland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with cars hitting German dealerships before the end of the year. The Insignia comes with a broad line-up of seven engines, all meeting Euro 5 emissions standards and six-speed transmissions. The four gasoline engines range from 115 hp up to a powerful V6 with 260 hp, while the three new turbo-diesels have a displacement of 2.0 liters and power outputs ranging from 110 to 160 hp. Its mechatronic FlexRide system and Adaptive 4x4 can be added, allowing for lightning-fast distribution of throttle over the four wheels—enhancing stability and dynamic performance.
