Opel Insignia Hatchback

At the British International Motor Show, Opel will present for the first time the four-door notchback and the five-door hatchback versions of the Insignia, its new flagship car. Both versions feature a flowing, muscular yet elegant silhouette with a coupé roofline, using the same length (4,830 mm) and wheelbase (2,737 mm). The advanced aerodynamic design results in a class-leading drag coefficient of 0.27, optimizing the Insignia’s fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and driving dynamics. To cater to different markets, the hatchback and notchback will be offered from the start. The UK and France favor the 5-door sedan, while Germany and Spain go for a notchback. Prices for the launch, available in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, will be announced July 22nd. The Insignia is expected to be in German showrooms by the end of 2008. The Insignia will have seven engine choices, all reaching Euro 5 emissions standards and mated to 6-speed transmissions. The gasoline engines span from 115 hp up to a V6 with 260 hp. The three direct-injection turbo-diesels have a 2.0 L capacity and are rated between 110 to 160 hp. Through the FlexRide mechatronic system and the Adaptive 4x4, the Insignia's performance is further experienced, with its lightning-fast distribution of torque across all four wheels.
