Opel Insignia OPC Sports Tourer

The Opel Insignia OPC Sports Tourer is set to hit dealerships by the end of 2009 following its journey around the world's toughest and most dangerous race track, the Nürgurgring's Nordschleife. Nicknamed the Green Hell by legendary race car driver Jackie Stewart, it is an impressive 20.8 km long track that Opel engineers insist each vehicle in their OPC range must go through to complete a rigorous 10,000 kilometer test of performance and quality. Just days ago, the Opel Insignia OPC sedan completed the challenge with no issues, Hans Demant, Managing Director of Opel, commenting 'it raced 487 laps for 12 days at some top speeds flawlessly.' This vehicle is packed with power, its 2.8-liter V6 Turbo engine offering drivers a generous 325 hp/239 kW and 435 Nm. Other elements such as a lower, reworked mechatronic chassis with FlexRide, an Adaptive 4x4 transmission with an electronic rear limited slip differential (eLSD) and Brembo brakes guarantee maximal performance. The Opel Insignia OPC Sports Tourer also offers a spacious station wagon functionality with 1530 liters of load capacity, making it automotive technology at its best. This OPC engine is also 25 percent more powerful than the 260 hp version of its 2.8 V6 Turbo found in the Insignia Sport and Cosmo. The engine is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and can accelerate from zero to 100 in 6.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h (restricted).
