Opel Signum 3.0 DTI 2003 posters

Opel Signum V6 CDTI

The Opel Signum is a large family car that General Motors has been producing in Germany since 2003. Primarily sold in Europe, the same model is sold in the UK as the Vauxhall Signum. It is based off the Opel Vectra and uses the extended-length version of the GM Epsilon platform, which is shared by the Vectra Caravan. Uniquely, the Signum is a large hatchback with a nearly vertical tailgate. Its dimensions fit in between traditional family cars and executive cars, and accordingly, its pricing is in between Vectra and Audi A6 models. The Signum was designed to fill the void left by the Opel Omega, which was similarly an outing of affordable executive cars. A vehicle inspired by this concept, the Chevrolet Malibu Maxx, is sold in North America. Compared to the Vectra, the Signum has a longer wheelbase and is 13cm and 6mm longer and taller, respectively. Its rear legroom has been amplified and two separate seats with adjustable backrests have replaced the traditional 1-bench seat. For more cargo space, both rear seats can fold down independently thanks to General Motors's Flexspace system. Some body panels and interior elements such as the dashboard and front seats are taken from the Vectra, but the tailgate and the back fender have been uniquely designed for the Signum. It was facelifted along with the Vectra in 2005, receiving a new front fascia and a few other touch-ups. The Signum is made alongside Vectras in the Rüsselsheim plant in Germany.
