Opel Signum V6 CDTI

The Opel Signum is a large family car that General Motors has manufactured in Germany since 2003. It is mainly sold in Europe and in the United Kingdom under the Vauxhall Signum nameplate. Sharing the long-wheelbase version of the GM Epsilon platform with the Opel Vectra, the Signum sits between regular large family cars and executive cars. Its unusual concept of a large hatchback with a nearly vertical tailgate contributes to its comfort at an affordable price. Unlike the Opel Vectra, the Signum is 13 cm longer in wheelbase, 23 cm longer overall, 6 mm taller, and has the same width. The rear legroom is ample due to the two separated seats, which feature sliding, reclining backrests, and adjustable armrest. To create more cargo space, the seats can be folded down individually–a feature that General Motors calls Flexspace. Moreover, the design of the tailgate and rear fender is exclusive to the Signum. The Signum was slightly modified in 2005 along with the entire Vectra lineup. This includes a new front fascia design and other minor changes. All models are made in Opel's Rüsselsheim plant. Its North American counterpart, the Chevrolet Malibu Maxx, utilizes a similar concept and platform, yet it targets a different market.
