The Panoz Esperante comes in several different models that have slight variations in their specs. The GTLM model uses a supercharger to boost power up to 420 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-60 in just 4 seconds. The GTS is a drivers' class car that is built to SCCA standards with a harness, roll cage, side bars, and other features, and is about 600 lbs lighter than the base Esperante. The GTS has a steel 5.8 liter V8 engine, which produces 385 bhp, and can reach 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds with a lateral grip of 0.98 g. Lastly, there is the JRD, a customizable aftermarket version that can be modified by Panoz to meet the buyer's needs.
The Esperante managed to win the GT2 class at the 2006 24 Hours of Le Mans thanks to its powerful performance. This success is a remarkable feat for a road-going car.
