This hatchback supermini was offered in various body types - a coupé cabriolet (the 206 CC) released in 2000, a station wagon (the 206 SW) launched in 2001 and a sedan version (206 SD) debuted in 2005. In 2008, a facelifted version of the Peugeot 206 was available in South America and China and marketed as the 207 Compact hatchback and the 207 sedan and station wagon. This version was later released in Europe in 2009 as the 206+. The Chinese joint venture Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën produced a derivative version of the Peugeot 206 called the Citroën C2, but is not technically related to the European-market model. The project In the early 1990s, the Peugeot 205 had been phased out but superminis were still in demand.
