In 1998, the concept-car Peugeot 207 epure was presented for the first time and the enthusiasm it generated drove the development of a new mass-produced vehicle: the Coupé / Cabriolet. The 206 CC, Peugeot's first car in the "small car" segment to have a metal electric folding roof, was well-documented success which was followed by the 307 CC in the higher segment of the Peugeot range. The 207 hatchback's designers therefore explored the possibility of creating a "CC" version for the new 207 range, aiming to produce a car with a focus on design and pleasure.
Presenting the 207 epure concept car, Peugeot unveiled a tangible future product, with the added feature of featuring twin coupé / cabriolet adaptability and, potentially, future fuel cell technology.
