Peugeot 307 SW
The Peugeot 307 is a small family car that has been produced by the French carmaker Peugeot since 2001. Showcased originally as the 307 Prométhée prototype at the 2000 Mondial de l'Automobile, the production versions for the European markets were launched in 2001 and the model went on to become the 2002 European Car of the Year.
History
When the Peugeot 306 was first launched in 1993, it was met with acclaim and it instantly became the best car in its class due to its handling and ride. Even with the arrival of the Volkswagen Golf Mk 4 and the Opel Astra/Vauxhall Astra Mk 2 in 1997, the 306 remained highly respected in its market segment. Ford upped the ante in 1996 when it released the new Fiesta which boasted of great design and performance. When the Ford Focus was released in 1998, the 306 could not keep up and the car was then five years old awaiting for its replacement.
