Pontiac Bonneville GXP

The Bonneville was given a V8 engine option on its GXP trim for 2004, something it hadn't had since 1986. This opened a spot in GM's lineup between Pontiac and Buick, allowing for the former to gain some upmarket presence. The V8 engine being used was Cadillac's Northstar and, as Pontiac's website put it, it offered "275 hp (205 kW), 300 ft·lbf (400 N·m) torque and 0-60 mph (~0 to 100 km/h) in 6.5 seconds [which] demonstrates better performance than BMW 330i and 530i, and Lexus ES." In addition, it also had a 3.7:1 final drive ratio, the most aggressive within this car segment.
