Pontiac G6 GXP Show Car

Pontiac is set to unveil a new G6 GXP coupe show car at the upcoming New York International Auto Show. Seeking to capitalize on the G6's already impressive 25% retail sales gain this year, the GXP show car sports a more aggressive exterior and stance to appeal to 2+2 coupe fans. It features a redesigned front fascia, where the lower air dam and the twin-port grille have been chromed, as well as a twin air scoop hood and a "hammerhead" spoiler at the back. Also, the side rocker panels, 19” wheels, and vented & cross-drilled brake rotors have been reduced to 25 mm to give the car a ground-hugging presence. Inside, a well-balanced mix of red accents and leather seat inserts convey a sporty feel. Performance-wise, the GXP houses a modified 3.9-liter V-6 engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The ram air induction system and K&N air filter help to fly up the engine output to 270 horsepower (202 kw) and 259 lb.-ft. of torque (358 Nm). "Although the GXP performance series has been very successful in the past, we've never attempted to introduce a GXP on our largest volume vehicle and we want to be sure we do it right," said Dennis Maraone, Pontiac product director.
