Pontiac Montana 2001 posters

Pontiac Montana

The Pontiac Montana was first introduced as a trim level of the Pontiac Trans Sport van from 1997 to 1998. GM then dropped the Trans Sport name for 1999 and the van was solely known as the Montana. This generation of the Montana was closely related to the Buick GL8, the Chevrolet Venture, the Oldsmobile Silhouette, the Vauxhall Sintra, and the Opel Sintra; the Opel and Vauxhall were only sold in Europe while the others were made in the same factory in the USA. In 2000, the GL8 was released as a similar version of the first-generation Pontiac Montana before being revised for the 2005+ GL8 similar to the Pontiac Montana SV6. Available in a short- or long-wheelbase model, the Montana was notably one of the few minivans to offer seating for eight. From 2001 to 2005, a special Thunder model was available with unique Thunder badging, chrome 5-spoke rims, an upgraded ride and handling package, a special back spoiler for the roof rack, two-tone black and grey leather seating, and a perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel. For 2003, the anti-lock brakes became an optional feature as well as the conventional head restraints offered in the Venture and Silhouette before Oldsmobile's demise in 2004. A cabin air filter was also installed for this generation and can be accessed from inside the glove compartment. The last Montana rolled off the production line in March of 2004 as a 2005 model.
