Pontiac Solstice Concept 2002 posters

Pontiac Solstice Concept

The Pontiac Solstice is a roadster developed by the Pontiac division of General Motors, first unveiled at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. Designed to provide an affordable sports car, the Solstice entered production in Wilmington, Delaware starting mid-2005 for the 2006 model year. Drawing inspiration from the 2002 Solstice concept that came before it, the car features exterior styling similar to the initial vision. The car retails for an MSRP of US$19,995. Upon its introduction, the Solstice instantly became a major hit for Pontiac, with 7,000 orders placed in the first 10 days of availability and 6,000 more before the end of the year. While first-year production was planned at 7,000, General Motors increased production and delivered 10,000 vehicles by March 1. The Pontiac Solstice is based on the GM Kappa platform, which also forms the basis for the Saturn Sky and Opel GT. An additional fixed-roof coupe version could be offered, allowing the car to be eligible for certain racing events otherwise off-limits for convertibles. After its launch, the Solstice was nominated for the North American Car of the Year award and Design of the Year award from the AJAC for 2006. ACCELERATION - Seconds Zero to
