Pontiac Solstice GXP

Since its introduction at the 2002 Auto Show to an early-order program that sold 1,000 cars in just 41 minutes, the Pontiac Solstice has been famous for its thrilling combination of styling and driving excitement. Now, Pontiac has taken this to a new high with the 2007 Solstice GXP, featuring a turbocharged Ecotec 2.0-liter engine. John Larson, General Manager of Pontiac, stated, "The GXP performance edition is the perfect extension of the base Solstice. It offers all the desirable qualities of a roadster - sharp lines, crisp handling, and strong performance - but has been taken to a whole new level with the increase in its horsepower." With its direct injection capability, the engine produces a staggering 260 horsepower (194 kW) and 260 lb-ft of torque (353 Nm). This makes it one of GM's highest-output engines ever, allocating 2.1 horsepower for every cubic inch of displacement and 130 hp (97 kW) for every liter. The dual-scroll turbocharger also brings rapid power, while the air-to-air intercooling system boosts its efficiency. Finally, dual cam phasing allows the turbocharger to further optimize valve timing and allows the engine to access torque quickly.
