Pontiac Torrent
The Pontiac Torrent is a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) that was created to replace the U-body Aztek, which was Pontiac's crossover SUV up until 2006. Its design is based on the Theta platform used for the Chevrolet Equinox, only sporting a front and rear end unique to Pontiac. The suspension was tailored to a firmer and sportier feel, branded as the FE2 suspension. To provide a more realistic feel, the electronic power steering was adjusted as well. Powering the Pontiac Torrent is a 3.4L V6 engine from China, with 185 hp and paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission.
In 2005, the Pontiac Torrent was the prize used on the reality TV show, Survivor.
