Pontiac Vibe 2003 posters

Pontiac Vibe GT

The Pontiac Vibe is a car produced by NUMMI (New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc), a joint venture between General Motors and Toyota. It is a short and tall station wagon marketed as a trendy, quasi-SUV vehicle. It was first showcased at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2000 and it was made available as a 2003 model-year car. Toyota markets the same vehicle in North America as the Toyota Matrix. The Matrix is produced in a Toyota plant in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada since NUMMI lacks production capacity. The Vibe was designed with convenience in mind. It features a standard 115-volt AC household-style electrical outlet so that common electrical devices can be used inside the car without the need for an inverter. It is available in an economical base model or a sporty GT trim with more power, and a version with an all-wheel drive model. The base model is powered by a 1.8L 4-cylinder I4 engine producing 126 hp and is customizable with either a manual or an automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive and the GT versions come with a VVTL-i producing 164 hp, but the former is manual 6-speed only. The Pontiac Vibe is the most fuel-efficient vehicle sold by GM in North America, and there have been minor changes between model years. The front fascia was refreshed in the 2005 model year, and GM adopted the Pontiac Solstice look by redesigning the front grill. Unfortunately, the all-wheel-drive and GT versions will be dropped after 2006 due to poor sales and new federal emissions standards, leaving only the base Vibe.
