Porsche 911 Carrera S

The introduction of the 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera and the 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S brings innovative technology, more powerful engines, improved aerodynamics and new interiors to the legendary 911 silhouette. For the first time since 1977 Porsche is powering the 911 with two engines. The 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera offers a 3.6 litre flat six-cylinder engine providing 325 (SAE) horsepower and 273 poundfeet of torque (370 Newton meters), while the 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S is driven by a 3.8-litre flat-six that produces 355 (SAE) horsepower and 295 pound-feet (400 Nm) of torque. An "S" designation is a special feature of Porsche, indicating a specific model and not just an option package or trim level. The first Porsche to symbolise an "S" badge was the 1952 356, powered by a 1.5-litre "Super" engine. Probably the most acclaimed "S" model in the company's history is the 911 S, released in 1967, although modern Porsche fanatics might mention the 911 Carrera 4S as their favourite. In recent years, Porsche has introduced higher-performance versions of the Boxster roadster and Cayenne sport utility vehicle called the Boxster S and Cayenne S.
