The Porsche 918 RSR is the result of this effort and is an amalgamation of two successful hybrid concepts from 2010. This two-seater mid-engine coupé displays the power of transferring the technology used in the 911 GT3 R hybrid and the design of the
918 Spyder into a state-of-the-art super sports car.
The 911 GT3 R hybrid racemobile amazed spectators when it hit the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit as well as the American Le Mans and ILMC in China's Zhuhai. Boasting top-notch competitiveness, excellent reliability, and admirable fuel efficiency that matched its power performance, the ‘Race Lab’ exceeded the expectations of Porsche Motorsport. It displayed its capability to generate additional power economy by harnessing its vehicle dynamics when braking. Porsche has now transplanted this technology into the mid-engine coupé Porsche 918 RSR, the motor sports coevolution of the 918 Spyder concept car.
