Porsche 968 Sport
The Porsche 968 Sport was a UK-only model produced between 1994 and 1995, with the same production line and chassis numbers as the Porsche 968 Club Sport. In addition to the specifications of the Club Sport model, the Sport variant included electric windows, electric release boot, central locking, and cloth 'comfort seats'. At a significantly lower price than the standard 968, it was much more popular, with 306 of the Sport models sold compared to just 40 standard vehicles.
The Club Sport variant of the 968 was designed for increased track performance. Weight-saving measures were taken, such as removing sound deadening material, replacing electric windows with crank-driven ones, manual adjustable Recaro racing seats, and a revised suspension that was 20mm lower. 17" wheels were installed, along with wider tires, and vanity covers in the engine bay were removed. It was only available in six colors, and had no airbags or rear seats. Grey market models of the Club Sport were made available in other countries, though officially it was only released in the UK, Europe, and Australia. The Club Sport variant won 'Performance Car Of The Year' in 1993 from Performance Car magazine in the UK.
