Renault 14 TS
The Renault 14 was a small family car of French origins, manufactured between 1976 and 1983. Front-wheel drive was adopted, posing the car as a competitor to automobiles like the Volkswagen Golf in the "small family car" segment. Available in L and TL trim levels, it was sold with a 1.2 L single overhead camshaft engine sourced from Peugeot. Although the car was crafted to be quite practical, with plenty of interior space, a bad advertising campaign tarred it by associating the 14 with the shape of a pear. This negative reputation was only reinforced by reports of premature body corrosion and unsuccessful attempts to enhance the car's appeal. Ultimately, only a little more than one million units were sold before production ceased in 1983. Nowadays, the Renault 14 is almost a rarity in Europe, especially in its homeland, where the extensive dealer network favoured the maintenance of the 14s for longer.
