Renault Alpine A 110

The Alpine A110, also known as the "Berlinette", was a sports car produced by the French manufacturer Alpine from 1961 to 1973. It was powered by various Renault engines and evolved from the A108. The vehicle had a steel backbone chassis and a fiberglass body, borrowing design inspiration from the Lotus Elan of the time. The A110 was originally fitted with a 1.1L R8 Major or R8 Gordini engine, delivering 95 hp SAE at 6500 rpm. However, it achieved notoriety in the early 1970s as a victorious rally car. Augusta Motorsportsfitted it with a Renault 16 TS engine, incorporating two dual chamber Weber 45 carburetors and cranking out 125 hp DIN at 6000 rpm, giving the 1600S a top speed of 210 km/h. This vehicle competed in the International Rally Championship for Makers during the 1970-1972 seasons, claiming multiple wins in several European events, including the 1971 Monte-Carlo Rally with Swedish driver Ove Andersson. This earned the Alpine A110 its reputation as one of the strongest rally cars of its era.
