Renault Alpine A 310 V6 Group 4

The iconic Alpine A310 was a sports car produced by French car manufacturer Alpine, from 1971 to 1984. First equipped with a 1.6 L four-cylinder engine from Renault, it was able to reach a maximum power of 127 PS DIN (93.5 kW/125 hp) due to its two dual-barrel carburetors. The car later underwent a redesign in 1976 and was fitted with an improved V6 PRV engine. This 2.7 L motor was revised by Alpine and a single dual-barrel carburetor boosted it to a power of 150 PS DIN (110 kW/148 hp). Employing a four-speed manual gearbox, the A-310 V6 was capable of reaching speeds of up to 210 km/h (130 mph) due to its light weight of 980 kg (2160 lb). Even in its stock form, the A310 had some success in French motorsports as a Group 4 car. The A310 also enjoyed a certain amount of fame in popular culture. It featured as a bright blue car in the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, driven by Misato Katsuragi, and appeared regularly in the movie Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo as a white car with a red lower body and trim, as well as a number 2 painted on its sides and hood. Esso petroleum decals decorated the racer for the Trans-France Race.
