Renault Alpine A 610

The Renault Alpine A610 was the successor to the Alpine GTA, a coupe automobile produced by the Renault-owned French manufacturer Alpine between 1986 and 1995. The A610 was a much revised version of the prior model, using a 3-litre PRV V6 engine, resulting in a power increase to 250 hp. It featured modern design elements such as body-integrated bumpers as well as a triangular C pillar with a large rear windshield. As well as the more powerful engine, the A610 was also slightly heavier than its predecessor due to the use of heavier materials, such as fibreglass. Despite its modern design and improved performance, the A610 was unable to replicate the sales success of the Alpine GTA and was discontinued in 1995. Despite this, the Alpine A610 gained acclaim from the motoring press and approval from British TV show Top Gear. The A610 was to be the last car to carry the Alpine name for the time being, with production of the model ending in 1995 and the Alpine factory in Dieppe switching to producing the Renault Spider.
