Renault Clio S

The Renault Clio is a popular supermini that has been produced by French automaker Renault since 1990. It's currently in its third generation and has proven to be one of Europe's most consistently top-selling cars due to its considerable critical and commercial success. The Clio was the car that helped Renault restore their reputation and stature after a difficult period in the late 1980's. In Japan, the Clio is also known as the Renault Lutecia. A four-door sedan version was manufactured and sold in select markets with Renault Clio Symbol, Renault Clio Sedan, and Renault Thalia monikers. In Latin America, the Nissan Platina is a rebadged and slightly modified version of the Clio. Clio (1990-1998) The Clio was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1990 and went on sale shortly after in France, while other European markets started getting it in March 1991. The Clio essentially acted as the successor to the Renault 5. Initially, the Clio had 1.2 L and 1.4 L E-type “Energy” petrol I4 engines and 1.7 L and 1.9 L diesel engines available. In 1992, the petrol engines got fuel injection instead of carburetors to meet new pollutant emission regulations. A year after its launch, the Clio underwent minor styling changes such as replacing the ribbed Renault emblem with a smooth version and updating the front seat design. In March 1994, the Renault Clio Phase 2 arrived with tasteful exterior and interior updates, the most notable being the front grille with a single-slat colour-coded finish and the incorporation of the trim level badge into the bump strips. Other changes included larger and rounder bump strips, moving the tailgate badges onto the gate itself and giving the rear light clusters a more contemporary bubble-like shape.
