Renault Laguna Nevada RXE 1.6 16V
The Renault Laguna is a large family car that has been produced by the French manufacturer Renault since 1994. The first generation was replaced with an all-new model in 2000, featuring a much more contemporary design and technology.
The original Laguna was initially offered as a liftback only. A few months later, it was joined by the estate version known in some markets as the Laguna Grandtour, which replaced the 21-based Renault Savanna/Nevada. Powering the Laguna were a range of petrol and diesel engines from 1.6 to 3.0 liters with the option of automatic transmission. Standard features across most of the first-gen models included power steering, electric front windows, driver's airbag, and remote central locking. Most models featured twin airbags, antilock brakes, air-conditioning, and a CD player as either standard or optional features. In 1998, the Laguna received a facelift and a few upgrades in terms of engine options. The final edition of the first-gen Laguna was the Laguna Concorde - boasting semi-leather seats and onboard voice commands.
At the end of 2000, the original Laguna was replaced by an all-new model which shared its platform with the Nissan Primera. It featured more powerful engines as well as a much longer list of equipment. The second-gen Laguna was the first vehicle in Europe to receive the highest 5-star rating in the EuroNCAP crash test results. It also included a 'keyless' ignition system that required a card-like device to unlock and start the car. The styling of the second generation model was inspired by the Initiale concept car. Sadly, even with all the advancements in technology, the second-gen Laguna did not live up to its expectations in terms of reliability as it often ended up at the bottom of the J. D. Power charts.
