Renault Laguna 2005 posters

Renault Laguna GT Estate

The original Laguna was replaced in December 2000 with an all-new model that shared its chassis with the Nissan Primera. Its engines were upgraded, and it was equipped with a range of features, including the 'keyless' ignition system—a credit card-style device used to unlock and start the engine instead of a key. The styling of the second generation Laguna was heavily influenced by the Initiale concept car, and it earned a 5-star rating from the EuroNCAP crash tests in Europe—a feature that soon followed in all other Renault models. It came as a liftback or an estate style, the latter only having five seats unlike the previous model that could have seven. It was marketed as a lifestyle vehicle rather than a load carrier. In March 2005, the Laguna II received a facelift that improved its security, driving performance, and comfort. An electronic handbrake was introduced, and its air intake at the front was redesigned to match that of the Megane. The engines were mostly unchanged, but the 2.0 dCi diesel engine was introduced with outputs of either 150 hp (112 kW) or a later variant that produced 175 hp (130 kW) in May 2007, making it the most powerful 2 litre diesel engine in the world.
