Renault Laguna GT Estate

The Renault Laguna GT Estate is the second generation of the Laguna series, released in 2000 and replacing the original. This vehicle shared its chassis with the Nissan Primera and had upgrades to its engine and a much longer equipment list. Its keyless ignition system, which uses a credit card style device to unlock and start the car, was a revolutionary advance at the time. The Laguna's styling was greatly influenced by the Initiale concept car and achieved 5 stars in the EuroNCAP crash test results, a feature which was widely copied by other Renault models. It was only available with five seats as opposed to the previous model, which had seven seat options on some versions. It was marketed primarily as a lifestyle vehicle rather than a load carrier. In March 2005, the Laguna II was given a facelift with improved security, driving performance, and comfort. Its air intake design was updated to match the Megane model and new features such as an electronic handbrake were introduced. The new engine lineup included 1.6 and 1.8 petrol units, a 2.0 petrol unit (turbo or non-turbo), and two diesel engines (1.9 or 2.2 direct-injection). In May 2007, a 2.0 dCi diesel engine with 150 hp (112 kW), as well as a 175 hp (130 kW) variant, were added to the range and were the most powerful 2 litre diesel engines in the world.
