Renault Laguna Nevada RXE 1.6 16V
The Renault Laguna is a large family car produced by the French manufacturer Renault since 1994. The first generation of the Laguna, launched initially as a liftback, was replaced by an all-new Laguna in the year 2000.
First generation
The first generation of the Laguna came with a range of engines, including 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol and a 2.2 diesel. It was among the first of its class to provide standard features such as power steering, electric front windows, driver's airbag and remote central locking. Furthermore, the Laguna's equipment levels were gradually upgraded over the years, with most models offering twin airbags, antilock brakes, air-conditioning and CD player as either optional or standard. In 1998, the model underwent a minor facelift with a restyling of rear lights and improved engine performance. The year 2000 saw the final edition of the first generation Laguna, the Laguna Concorde, which boasted several extras such as semi-leather seats and vocal warnings.
Second generation
By 2000, the original Laguna was replaced by the second generation. Apart from minor tweaks in styling and some inclusion of additional features, the second generation had the advantage of introduction of a 'keyless' ignition system, EuroNCAP 5-star safety rating, as well as advanced chassis sharing with Nissan Primera. It was, however, affected by reliability issues and has featured constantly at the bottom of J. D. Power tables.
