The Renault Mégane II was a hugely successful model that replaced the original Mégane back in 2002. With the first vehicle bringing the manufacturer's new design element to life, it was no surprise that the newer model achieved enormous success all across Europe, winning "European Car Of The Year" in 2003 and becoming the first vehicle in its class to earn a 5-star safety rating from EuroNCAP crash tests. RenaultSport then demonstrated their expertise with their turbocharged 2.0 L 16v petrol engine on the 3- and 5-door hatchbacks, providing the model with 225 hp of power and improved front and rear suspension.
In addition to this, other options of the Mégane II included the three and five door hatchbacks, the 4-door saloon/sedan, five-door estate, and a new retractable hardtop coupé-convertible, built by Karmann, with its revolutionary folding glass roof mechanism. Finally, the Mégane Scenic also got a makeover, now available in both short and long-wheelbase models for extra versatility.
