Renault Modus Concept 2004 posters

Renault Modus Concept

The Renault Modus is a supermini MPV designed and built by the French car maker Renault in Valladolid, Spain since September 2004. The production model is very akin to the concept car of the same name. It has basically a taller and shorter form of the Clio and, as a consequence, shares its platform and a lot of its engine range with the current version of the Clio. The Modus was designed for people who wanted the practicality and adaptability of a bigger Renault Scénic, without its increased size. The same Clio platform which created the Modus also gave rise to the current-generation Nissan Micra and its monospace counterpart, the Nissan Note. In order to increase the practicality of the Modus, some inventive features were added. These include the Triptic seating system which has the rear seats in four preset positions and can be adjusted on sliding rails. When placed in the rearmost two positions, it ensures more legroom, shoulder room and hip room. When in the front positions, it can be configured to fit three users, allowing both comfort and increased space for cargo capacity. Additionally, its front seat's squab has a cushion which can be flipped up, leaving a space where the driver can store objects to prevent them from coming to the footwell or out of reach. Another noteworthy characteristic of the Modus is its Boot Chute; a drop-down opening located at the center of the tailgate beneath the rear window. It can be easily accessed even when the car is parked nose to tail with other vehicles, for which it would normally be impossible to open the load area. This way the user can store small items even in such the situations. The Boot Chute is very reminiscent of the tailgate of the original Mini. The Modus was additionally one of the first cars of its class that had a list of options that included automatic headlamps and windshield wipers. Moreover, it was the first small car to have been awarded 5 NCAP stars for passenger safety, due to its 6 airbag system, front and rear side impact bars, and ISOFIX child seat fixing points. Engines
