Renault Thalia

The Renault Thalia is a four-door sedan variant of the Renault Clio, which is a supermini produced by the French automaker Renault. It is designed to appeal to markets where sedans are traditionally preferred over hatchbacks. Apart from the four-door sedan version, the Clio is also sold as the Renault Lutecia in Japan and as the Nissan Platina in some Latin American markets. The Clio was initially introduced in the Paris Motor Show in the autumn of 1990 and began sales in France soon after. It was designed to replace the Renault 5, which continued to be produced as a budget alternative until 1996. At launch, the Clio was available with a 1.2 L and 1.4 L E-type "Energy" gasoline I4 engines and 1.7 L and a 1.9 L diesel (both based on the F-type unit) engines. A fuel injection system was incorporated in the gasoline engines in 1992 to comply with new pollutant emission regulations. In March 1994, the Clio underwent a minor facelift, with a new "smooth" version of the Renault diamond badge and a new front seat design. Moreover, the grille was updated from two metal ribs to a single colour-coded slat grille, and the bump strips were made slightly larger and rounder. The car's trim level badge was also incorporated into the bump strips, while the badges on the tailgate strip were moved up onto the tailgate itself and given a carbon fibre look. The rear light clusters were given a slightly more rounded 'bubble' shape.
