The engineers from Renault Sport Technologies faced a challenge when they created the new Renault Clio Sport; to maintain the original personality of Clio III, while also emphasizing the inherent qualities and dynamism of the newcomer. After all their hard work, they have produced an excellent car that puts performance, passion, and driving pleasure front and center.
New Renault Clio Sport has been a worthy successor to Clio Sport 2.0 16V. This model includes a first in its segment - a rear air diffuser taken straight from Formula 1 - coupled with front wing extractor vents, which provides excellent aerodynamic performance.
This vehicle is sportier than ever, with an evolved, normally-aspirated 2.0 16V engine that produces 197hp - the highest specific power output of its category - and 215Nm of torque at 5,550rpm. This power and response is further enhanced by the new six-speed gearbox, providing first-class sports performance and driving pleasure. The double-axis strut system also ensures precise handling.
New Renault Clio Sport's styling modifications include larger front wings (+42mm) to fit its wide track and tyres; the rear has increased by 28mm. The extra space has allowed for a flat panel floor instead of a spare wheel well, while the spare wheel is replaced with two tyre repair aerosols.
From the summer of 2006, New Renault Clio Sport will have the option of Recaro bucket seats, tailored with “Entresol” upholstery and featuring lateral airbags. Each seat has a rigid, polyamide and fibreglass-injected shell for an all-enveloping experience like that of a competition car. Seatbelts and built-in headrests make the seats even more distinctive.
