Rinspeed sQuba Concept

Thirty years after the movie thriller 'The Spy Who Loved Me' captivated audiences around the world, Frank M. Rinderknecht, the Swiss automobile visionary, has made the movie fantasy into a reality. Presenting the Rinspeed sQuba, the world's first real submersible car, at the Geneva Motor Show (March 6th - 16th, 2008), Rinderknecht has afforded visitors the opportunity to witness the stabile flight of the car underwater at a depth of 10 meters. The power of the sQuba to submerge and move through water sets it apart from military vehicles which are limited to driving slowly over the submerged ground. With it's watertight and pressure resistant characteristics, the sQuba is able to move with the agility and power of a fish underwater. Rinderknecht has put a lot of effort to make this dream a reality. According to him, "It is undoubtedly not an easy task to make a car watertight and pressure resistant enough to be maneuverable under water. The real challenge however was to create a submersible car that moves like a fish in water".
