Rolls-Royce 101EX Concept

The latest experimental model from Rolls-Royce, 101EX, has been hand-crafted to critically assess a contemporary coupé design. Maintaining the same rigorous standard used for the Phantom, the car is an engineering-designed automobile that is beautified with a sleek, low-slung body. It utilizes the same lightweight, aluminum space frame chassis of the Phantom, albeit in a smaller version, and is powered by the advanced, direct-injection, 6.75-liter V12 engine incorporated into the Phantom. The 101EX will not be put into production, but rather stands as a marker to display the inventive design and advanced architecture that is a staple of modern Rolls-Royce creations. Designed by Rolls-Royce Chief Designer Ian Cameron, the 101EX is significantly shorter and lower than the Phantom, with a wheelbase length that is 250 mm shorter and an overall length that is 240 mm shorter. Additionally, all the body panels are original. Cameron observed, “The design suggests tremendous, effortless power.” This power is provided by the 6.75-liter engine that uses direct fuel injection with adjustable valve lift and timing to offer superior combustion performance in addition to generating immense torque at as little as 1000 rpm - the sign of an impressive Rolls-Royce.
