Rolls-Royce Centenary Phantom

The Rolls-Royce Phantom is a luxury saloon automobile crafted by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, a subsidiary of BMW. It was unveiled in 2003, becoming the first vehicle produced under BMW's ownership of the Rolls-Royce brand. SpecificationsThe Centenary Phantom features a powerful 6.8 L, 48-valve, V12 engine that generates 453 hp (338 kW) and 531 ft·lbf (720 N·m) of torque. This engine is derived from BMW's existing V12 powerplant. The car stands 1.63 m (63 in) tall, 1.99 m (74.8 in) wide, 5.83 m (228 in) long, and weighs 2485 kg (5478 lb). It is constructed using an aluminium spaceframe, and is capable of accelerating to 60 mph (100 km/h) in 5.7 seconds, with a six-speed automatic transmission and a double wishbone suspension. Some international versions also possess side markers, with rear ones being coloured red in the US, meeting federal car lighting regulations. An extended wheelbase Phantom variant was also introduced in 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show, lengthening the car by 250 mm. DesignBMW committed significant effort into making the Phantom unique from existing BMW models. Up to 15 percent of components are shared between the Phantom and BMWs such as the 7 Series, however Rolls-Royce's traditional design features are preserved. For instance, the Phantom is not sold through the same dealerships that BMW use - avoiding the perception that it is an extension of the BMW range - in contrast to Mercedes' highly criticised Maybach saloon. This luxury car shared a shocking number of components, and appeared similar to the much cheaper S-Class Sedan. BMW learned from this mistake, giving the Phantom its own distinct identity.
