While the car was actually badged as a 92X, it's been consistently advertised as the 9-2X. The 2006 9-2X was priced between US$23,710 and 27,670. It offered the choice of either a 2.5L flat four-cylinder engine shared with the Subaru Impreza, badged the 2.5i, or a 2.5L turbocharged flat four-cylinder engine shared with the Subaru Impreza WRX, badged the Aero. The DOHC turbocharged 2.5L engine produced 230 hp at 5,600 rpm and 235 ft·lbf of torque @ 3,600 rpm, while the SOHC with variable valve timing 2.5L produced 173 hp at 6000 RPM and 166 ft·lbf of torque at 4400 RPM.
